Biography
Dr. Kaplan earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University, where she focused on understanding the relationship between emotional and physical health. She completed multiple psychotherapy practica, including specialized training in treatment of OCD and related disorders, as well as a formal minor in clinical neuropsychology.
Dr. Kaplan’s passion for psychotherapy, health psychology and neuropsychological assessment led to a sub specialization in neurorehabilitation. She completed her predoctoral internship at the Rusk Institute, where she worked with inpatients and outpatients diagnosed with acquired neurological and/or complex medical conditions. She also obtained specialized training in evidence-based cognitive rehabilitation and family interventions. Dr. Kaplan completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Mount Sinai, where she trained in emotion regulation and problem solving interventions and conducted neuropsychological assessments for a variety of diagnoses, including as part of the NFL concussion program.
Prior to starting her practice, Dr. Kaplan worked as an attending neuropsychologist in the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Norhwell-Southside Hospital. During her tenure, she served as the consulting neuropsychologist for the Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Brain Injury Unit. She was also a member of the outpatient department and the Northwell Concussion program, providing comprehensive outpatient treatment and assessment services and co-treating with physicians and rehabilitation therapists. Dr. Kaplan also supervised graduate trainees in psychology and provided instruction to medical students and medical residents. She also worked as the behavioral health lead at Crossover Health, providing treatment to individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, occupational/relationship difficulties and health-related concerns.
Dr. Kaplan’s research has focused on factors that impact health behavior and adjustment to injury. She has spoken and presented at national and regional conferences on topics including concussion management and post-brain injury depression. Dr. Kaplan also served as an adjunct professor in Pace University’s MA in Psychology program, where she taught courses in neuropsychology and cognitive psychology.
